I wish my camera had "Sturdy hand grips for steady shots" .. get rid of this silly tripod ..
actually .. for a kid, a digital camera makes alot of sense .. I remember the stuff I photographed with my first film cameras back in the 60's-70's .. with $5 for film and $5-10 for developing costs
So .. Let's see a show of hands .. who, among you, are leading your children down this path of 'lens envy' technobabble
My 9 year old nephew is now the proud owner of a digital camera because we let him shoot ours at Christmas '04 and he has an excellent natural talent. His composition is right on the money. He has good clarity and no problems zooming. He did use my hubby's smaller dig camera, but this year, I let him use my Panasonic Lumix and he had a blast! He really gets into the macro shots....he was doing extreme close-ups of ornaments on the tree and they were really good! Prior to Xmas of 2004, he had never touched a camera before.
I am glad to see FP encourage the younger generation to explore photography. It is so much cheaper now with the advent of the digital camera's. When I was growing up, we had this very, very old Brownie box camera that you held at your waist to shoot the picture. I was never allowed to touch it, plus, the film and developing cost money and that was something we didn't have much of.......
A few of our grandkids have shot our camera's. One of them was just asking me last week about "film". I explained and showed her the SD card and she asked me what happened when it got full!! :), so then I explained how it can be erased. She thought that was so cool! We are their teachers! Thanks for the link Keith :)
The best way to get the littler grandkids to hold still for a photo is to let them see it right afterwards, Digital has made photographing the wee ones so much easier with just a bit of a bribe and we have the memories recorded. Plus, it is another way to introduce dig photography to them.
I wonder what the price range for the FP cameras will be. Good Xmas gifts if reasonable!!!
Slightly off topic, but still along the same lines...
...when I was younger my grandparents had a macaroni and cheese camera that was a real camera, used real film (although not 35 mm), that I got to use. Then my mom got me a cheap 35 mm, and now I've got the Canon.
I wish that when I was younger, I would've had a Fisher Price Digital Camera! I'm sure that will be one of my child's first presents (when I have one, that is).
No longer shall I paint interiors with men reading and women knitting. I will paint living people who breathe and feel and suffer and love. [Edvard Munch]
