Hi, its, my first post. This site has wonderful natural scenes photographs- my favorite category of wallpapers.
I want to ask one thing. I download many pics from here. To use as wallpaper I edit some of them., I just cut a bit of portion of some photos. Some have borders that I remove. From one wallpaper I removed a portion( image of some men, children etc and patched it so that it will not be felt grossly).
I want to ask for these things do I need to take permission from the persons who posted these images.
Thanks.

First let me welcome you to the site. Enjoy your stay with us!

As long as you are using the pictures for your own personal use on your computer, there is no problem. If you plan on using them elsewhere, you need to ask the individual artist for permission to use their image. The works here are copyrighted, but most artist will grant you permission when asked directly!
Hope this helps!

As long as you are the only one who is going to view it, there is no problem. If you intend to share any image with others then you need permission, but that applies to both edited or non-edited images. You can also upload edited images to the "Rework" gallery if you think other people will appreciate them, but again you need to get the original authors go ahead.

To add to what sam said, im pretty sure if you are showing your buddies or whoever comes over to your house or whatever that is ok. The problem arises when you publish you work on a website or some other something or other.

No one wanted to pay to say something in my sig, so i will have to try and think of something creative now...

I probably should have said "distribute" rather than "share".

Thanks for the replies. So I hope if I just just put the wallpapers on my brother,s or friend,s PC that is for personal use only, I will not need a permission for that as well. Am I true? Thanks.

Personally .. I find it disrespectful of the author .. they are sharing their work with you and you're going to butcher it to suit your tastes?

here's another viewpoint .. Altering others' images

but .. as has already been said .. what you do behind closed doors is your business .. disrespectful as it may be

Thanks Keifer.I , too, find it really offensive; I would prefer another ask.......most of the time i do not care if someone downloads, but do not change what i have constructed...that is crappy.

Putting those pictures on your brothers or friends computer is not for your personal use, you have given them away and that is not permitted.

Ok, BTW, currently i am not putting them on anyone,s PC except my very own personal laptop.
I just asked this as many people-- when they see these beautiful wallpapers, they ask how to get them? And being all on dial up, downloads take a bit time so I thought it might be easier for them to get already downloaded images. However as it,s now clear so I will not think about this.
Thansk for your replies!

Hi Dante11! from editing I don,t mean to change it too much. What actually I nmaen is a bit cutting on edges or resizing etc.
For example, some images have a border all around that I don,t like, so I will just like to remove that border( to be similar to all my other wallpapers that are borderless) by simply cutting it via OS.
Or in some photographs I just want to cut a portion of it and will use the rest of it without any editing of images.
So what u think about this?

you're actually digging yourself in deeper everytime you post .. now you're the "go-to guy" for pre-downloaded images

Every image on Caedes has a link that tells you exactly what you can and can’t do.
