EXIF data problems.

Hi, I recently got a ticket and I was wondering if it were possible to export the EXIF data with the picture on the camera and have it display like it does on the camera. I could retype all the data by transcriping it from bridge onto the pictures, but I don't think the judge would take that as valid. I thought I could take a print screen of the bridge screen, but I think that carries the same problem as the thought above.

I currently have all CS2 suite programs.
Thank you for your help.

On a camera when you are viewing the pictures you have the option of viewing the data of picture (date taken, various settings ect.). When printing at a picture booth you have the option of printing this data with the picture. For my purposes this will not work because I need a larger picture. So I must somehow get the date taken info from the EXIF data and put them on the picture in such a way that I can testify in court that these pictures have not been edited in any way.

if you are running windows if you right click on the picture and bring up the properties you can view the exif data. as far as printing that i don't thibk there is a way to do it with out being able to falsify it. perhaps you could burn a cd with the file on it. also, im not sure but i bet there is a way you could edit the exif data anyways so im not sure it is taken as reliable proof.

I was afraid of that. One more question, do JPGs preserve the data, or would I have to preserve the images in TIFF format which I took the pictures in.

hmmm… some cameras allow you to export EXIF data as a text file which would include the time and date. You could try highlighting it from the full sheet of all images on the camera, and print the image w/the number labeled as the name on the page. It's worth a shot!

For future though? If you have a cell phone, show the display in the corner of your image to catch the time and date of the photo. 8•)

I could try printing the EXIF data on the back of the picture. Maybe that would suffice.

Thats an intersting idea. I hadn't thought of that.
Does the cell phone idea permanently encode the data into the picture or does the same problem arise as in the first post. ie only displaying the data and not printing it out.

ah… I think you missed what I meant… flip your cell phone open to show the time & date display… and have it in the corner of your shot so that you have one image… cell phone, car, street, etc.

Matthew - just a sugestion. If I am on the same line of thinking as you. I think you should check with the prosecutor in your jurisdiction to see if photos are admissable evidence in court. Because of new guidelines in evidence submition, even most DOT generated documents are not allowed. I too received a ticket, and Department of Transportation approved documents proving my innocence were not allowed. I was allowed to verify my evidence for a fee of $2000. . . .not worth it. So I took the defered option instead.

.animaniactoo- That might work, but I already opted for the mail in court procedure. I can't back out of that now because it’s been two weeks.

::oksyl- That sucks about the picture thing, but I can't really do the deferral because I already used that one up on a freeway speeding ticket. So, I have to get this one dropped or I end up paying for both the differed ticket and the other ticket. This just makes it more difficult to prove my innocence.

that's why I called a "for future" thought 8•)

Jerry, I think that depends on what state you're living in… each one has it's own rules.

Guess I overlooked that little clause. I'll have to look at my states laws to find out about the other thing. Thank you all for your help.
