PDNOnline reports on an effort by six California photographers to turn an abandoned airplane hangar into a pinhole camera. It will apparently be the largest camera ever built.
The camera will expose a negative made from a 25 x 100-foot sheet of muslin coated with a liquid emulsion and hung at a focal length of 80 feet. The photographers expect the exposure to take from 5 to 12 days and plan to make the picture sometime in June, 2006.
The photographers call their work The Legacy Project, which they say will ultimately be a 15-year study of the air station. To date, they've taken more than 80,000 images and produced two books.
