Exifer @ friedemann-schmidt

Windows Only

Exifer is a program to maintain your EXIF data .. keeping programs that would normally overwrite the metatags from doing so .. by creating a backup then re-applying the data

Because many image processing software destroys this metadata when saving such files, the idea was to create a backup of the metadata before editing it in any software, and then, after that to restore it back into the processed file. With Exifer you can do this very easily.

Exifer is a nearly free software .. (POSTCARDWARE .. you only should send me a postcard if you're using Exifer frequently)

spotted this @ DSL-R .. I have not used the software as I am not dealing with EXIF data

i've only really noticed photoshop ditching EXIF data when you copy & paste to a new canvas - is this still maintained with this?

I'm not sure how the software works .. I'm assuming it isn't automated or transparent to the user .. it possibly just stores the data by image name, giving you a means of pumping it back in

I was kind of surprised to see people say that photoshop does this and then there not being a switch in "preferences" to leave EXIF alone

?? .. would altering levels, curves, contrast .. etc .. still make the EXIF data relevant

If you do File-> Save AS-> .PSD, it preserves the EXIF data. If you copy and paste it into a new document, all EXIF data goes away. If you modify levels and such and saved it the first way, the Date Taken data would be preserved; however, a date modified line would be added.

When I used this program, it didn't really seem to do anything that photoshop didn't already do. Maybe I'm not using this program right.

what do you get in photoshop when you copy and paste 10 different images into one

does the EXIF data scroll into the image like the beginning of Star Wars?
