I enjoy getting and looking at pictures from Caedes, especially the computer-generated pictures. However, I run an unusual-sized dual-head monitor setup in spanned mode, so unless a picture is some size that can be cropped to 2880x1200, I have to stretch the pictures to get them to fit the monitor array.
I have PovRay and would be more than willing to render pictures myself in the correct resolution if the artists would be kind enough post the source files. I am just learning how to do ray-tracing and am nowhere near as good as the artists here ;)
there are some pictures around that have been done in widescreen and posted with letterbox format although hardly any of these are CG - your best bet would be to approach artists directly via PM for works that you like and see if they can help you out with source files.
Thank you for the mandolux link. It was exactly what I was looking for. I was interested in the CG originally because of how it can be rendered in any resolution, but to tell the truth, I like the wide-format photography much better.
