I read about this in the paper, but it is much more dramatic in these images. I am not sure that I understand why the small boat was set free? Or, shall I not allow logic to enter into this equation? :=) Thanks Keith for the neat link. Will be able to show the grandkids. Cool :~)

I would guess that the electronics used to set off the detonation were fairly expensive and they didn't want to lose them so they put them on the small boat so they wouldn't go down with the ship. Otherwise there was no need for the small boat to even enter the equation in the first place.
