I'm having trouble seeing all of the images in a gallery. If I click on any gallery, not all of the images load. I've tried with 3 computers and 2 browsers and the same thing happens. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it just me or did something go terribly wrong with the site?? Also I noticed that the page loading bar stops 3/4 of the way through.
hmm this problem is usually hard to diagnose .. take two valium and call me in the morning
no new firewalls, I assume .. it's possible your ISP is trying new things .. maybe a transfer station\node is down and it's causing the "time-to-live" to be exceeded
of course these are all terms from the 300 baud days .. I just haven't let them go yet
Ok that's weird! I haven't touch the firewall setting on my dsl router since I installed it. I just set it from medium to low and now everything is loading fine. I wonder if I should hit the reset button on it and sart over. I'd hate to have to keep it at the low setting since most of my computers are running Windows.
I'm having the same issue. I can't see the three images on the home page at all. I get some of the images in New Images. If I wait, the pics that don't show get the magic red X. I wish I knew what was up. Same here also on the no changes to firewall. Hmmm.....I wonder if Microsoft's Auto Updates bit some of us.
I'm not having any problems, either. Have you checked for malware/adware/spyware? This is what typically slows down your computer browsing. If so, try Zonelabs internet security suite-excellent software! If not a malware problem, go into your internet browser settings and empty the temporary files. This makes a drastic improvement in speed for many users.
Now that I've set my router firewall to low, I don't have the problem, and it's only on the Caedes site. Besides Linux does not have problems with malware/adware/spyware!!!
I've had numerous problems with thumbnail images .. still do .. but I've resigned myself to blaming it on fate, karma, and my ISP
1) .. can you set ONLY caedes to low via special rules
2) .. is it hyper mode .. or .. normal .. switch from one to the other
3) .. if it's a windows system .. have you tried Crap Cleaner (free) .. **(see note)
** go into options\cookies and try to move all of your 'convenient' cookies to the "keep" side .. (your auto-log-ins) .. then, once you've run it, go to those sites and see if you are logged in .. if not, then .. log in and go back into options\cookies and look for the cookie among a much shorter list
It freed up 164 megs of CRAP from my computer (firefox cache and such) .. and might, possibly, have improved browsing this site .. only time will tell
I'm pretty sure it's the router firewall!! I just reset it to medium and all of the images don't load from Caedes. I went to photo.net and all of the images loaded just fine. Reset the router to low and the problems fixed. So why would the firewall block images from just Caedes? The router that I'm using is a Westell from Verizon.
We load 50% of the thumbnail images from an alternate HTTP port (8080). If you are blocking this port then that would explain the problem. We also load most of the graphics for the design of the site (like the caedes logo) from this port as well. Do you see these graphics?
The 1st time it happened I could not see all of the graphics and hyper mode didn't show all of the images, but now the graphics show and hyper mode seems to work fine, but the wallpaper search has problems. I can't find which ports the dsl routers firewall is blocking, so I guess I'll just leave the firewall set to low or use hyper mode for now unless anybody has any ideas. Will port forwarding work?
I am fairly sure my issue is the port issue. I get no preview images on the front page and about half on the New Images page. If I switch to hyper mode, I get all of them. I am doing this at work, so I have no control over the firewall settings. All I know is it used to work prior to the beginning of this month and other people are having the same issue the same time as I. I wonder if the loading half of the images through port 8080 is a recent change? I definitely have the possiblity of a firewall setting change, though.
