My widescreen monitor resolution is 1680x1050 is there a way to quickly format the picture without ruining the pictures? I have tried downloading every resolution but can't stand the warping that happens when I try to fit it in my desktop.

If you have Photoshop:
1) Upload at 1600x1200
2) Rectangular marquee tool: choose a selection of 1600x1050
3) Menu > Image > Crop
Then you've a 1600x1050 pic without decreasing the general quality
You can make the same with others software like PaintShopPro

You can do it in Paint also.

true.. but i'd hate to be in tripsters shoes when deciding what big chunk of an image to crop off...i guess its not too bad.. but still thats a fair amount of pixel to remove.. be fine with any images posted with borders... but if like sam you hate borders..then with borderless imagesyour going to have to crop into the actual image and composition of them...just pick your crop wisely.. and what can i do for sir today?? 150 off the top?... maybe sir would like 150 of the ends.. or how about a 75 short back and sides... and a shave.. something for the weekend sir??? Or, change your desktop res to something more suitable, will take a little while to get used to, but you will probably like it even better. ;()

If I had a widescreen monitor you can bet I'd be using it in the recommended resolution. I'd probably do a combination of resampling and cropping to get the image to the correct aspect ratio.

Take a 1600x1200 image, resample it down to 1600x1125, and then crop off the remaining 75 pixels somewhere. You probably won't be bothered by the change in aspect ratio, and you'll have half as many pixels to throw away as compared to just cropping.

well suggested Caedes... i agree..this approach will work very well for the vast majority of images on here...theres only going to be a few images that won't be able to handle resampling especially onesdealing with photos of people... those are the worst for resizing.. suddenly you have fat heads or thin heads.. or shorter people or taller.. humans turn into skinny aliens.. lol :D

That would make his images 80 pixels to small horizontally hehe;-)

Why not just use the 1280x1024 size and center it on your monitor? You'd end up with a plain color on the two sides... An inelegant solution, but easy and no cropping required. :-)
