Long before I found this site or used PS, I collected pictures from the web for my screensavers & wallpaper. I now find that I want to "play" with a few of them and post them here but have either no idea of the author or just a screen name. What can I ethically do... use them or not? Decia

at a guess I'd say not, there are however, plenty of resources available on the net for you to download images for manipulation - such as the stock exchange.

decia, how did you save the images when you downloaded them?
if you didn't rename them, the author's name will be in the file name

I didn't download them from this site and the file name doesn't have a name in them... example... 78146Dutchmens-Breeches.jpeg. oh well..

well… if you can't get back to the site that you downloaded them from… and you can't get the author's name or permission… sorry, you can't use em. you'd be running a wide risk of copyright violation and they don't accept "I didn't know how to find you" as an excuse. lol.
