One thing that has irritated me since the beginning is that when someone updates their Avatar/sig/website url whatever it be, its not updated globally on caedes, that is, older comments still show an old Avatar/sig, and posts an old website url for instance. Is there a reason for this?

I find it quite annoyying personally because I personally am used to most other sites where I only need look at the persons avatar to know who they are, just a minor thing that might have been overlooked, or theres a good reason.

i think people tend to recognise user names more than their avatars, unless of course it has rotor blades on it :-) I wouldnt exactly call it an annoyance...

Yeah, I recognize people by the username but I can easily figure it out just by looking at the language anyway. =)

That's okay unless it's someone who changes their avatar with their underwear .....They become hard to recognize because of that ... So I do as Phil said, I depend on the username.

I prefer it this way, it's like a kind of historical record.

The site has about 24 hamburgers on file for camerahound .. so .. If I'm not in the mood for the patty-melt he's serving up today .. I can order from a previous comment ..

some of his comments have drive-thru windows

Ive learned to read the names and I do obviously anyways, but sometimes like on most forums/social sites/you name it, the avatars change globally. Less confusion of random avatars everywhere.

this is an art site and funky, groovy avatars on display is just part of the whole caedes experience .. sometimes it's years before people even discover the image galleries .. it was always about the icons for them ... some people get mad and leave .. they feel as though they were lied to

and if you go over to Deviant Art… the "too big for its own britches" website… you'll notice that the avatars and signatures have the option of being "sticky" or not.

Personally, i like seeing the old avatars pop up when I open a thread or an older image. It amuses me. then again… what doesn't? 8•P
