OK I can access it now, however I can't test the program or comment on it since it is only for windows and there are no screen shots. Does it do code lexing?

Keifer, could you please tell me what you think of my program? The site is back up, the files don't add up to more than 5 MB, and I think its pretty cool. I really need suggestions for improvement.

but but but .. I'm not a web developer .. and I've seen what you do to interlopers ... and *caedes has a question on the table that I would like answered as well .. and then . what is code lexing? ..
Tim, I am not a web developer, however, as a hacker in training (I'm learning my very meager skills from a 15 yr old scary smart kid) I have seen some stuff. The BROWSER= It is pretty basic, however it started fairly quickly and switching sites was done with good speed and ease...I did not do the 1.2 whatever zipped final only the 1.8...it has promise. I like that the Browser core allows switches between FF and IE. A toolbar should be added at some point (imho).
What are you hoping to achieve? An Opera styles browser that does the job but aint fancy or something that gives a little of both like firefox does? Just curious. And is this for fun or a job thing? Again curious.
Now for the GUI file...seems fairly complete, with a really fast transfer to your page (you play flute???!!! Cool.)
Is there a specic thing you'd like me to look at on either file, since I am the only one brave enough it seems to do so? Like I said, my knowledge is limited, I am only now learning the absolute basics of things (and that is for fun, from a hacker) so I can't be of alot of help, but I will try or can pass it on to friends who are much better than I am.
Well, I still haven't seen any actual material about this particular application, but I think I can share some thoughts with you about it anyway. A project like this only really has a chance of being useful and good if it is something that you have build because you needed it. If you need something for your work and can't find anything that fits the bill then I'd say go ahead and build it for yourself. If you are currently using it and it works for you then everything is fine, however if you don't use this application regularly then it has no chance of ever being anything more than an obsqure hobby application. If it works for you then chances are that people of similar needs will also like it and potentially use it.
Now, for more specifics about the application itself. I know of at least 4 application that already do what you have described (a code editors with built-in browsers so that you can view changes). Your product has to value-add beyond the basic sum of its parts. Putting the browser and editor together has to somehow be better than if they were separate. Otherwise I can just use my editor of choice and browser of choice and essentially have the same thing.
So my questions are: How is this better than a separate browser and editor, and does this added benefit overcome the downside of being tied to a single editor and pair of browsers?
It is better than a separate browser and editor, because it is more compact than most browsers or editors, although admitedly, has less features than most browsers or editors.
The unique feature, as far as I know, is that I've tied an Internet Explorer core and Firefox core into one browser, and coupled that with a capable web-editor. I also know, (as I just tested today), that with the latest version of wine, and the runtime files, also on the download page, my program can also be run in Linux, with fairly minor interface issues.
Thanks for the interest, Caedes.
Akashastrega,
I've discontinued that browser, because I realized I wasn't going to accomplish much, because all I really know how to do is be re-skin the browser.
All of the programming I'm currently doing is basically a hobby of mine, as well as the web-design.
I'm looking most specifically for comments on GUI.

Nothing really, it's a great program. I think alot of new web designers will find it helpful...maybe a tutorial for the newbies would help them out even more?

TO make it show up on search engines you need to go and register with the engine, they usually have a link on their hompages, or do a search for "Register with search engines" or something, some sites offer a service where they will register you with several engines at once (some want money but ignore those ones). Also there is some HTML you should use which will assist search engines with identifying your site (I think Crusader put it on another thread which I started about my own site, it's around here somewhere).
You mention a counter, I would suggest you make sure it is counting unique visits and not just page loads otherwise it will be innaccurate.
One more thing, there is a graphic on the page called "Top Ten US", I could only read the last part of each name as they were obscured by the pink rectangle.
oh, thanks, i'll look right after i finsih my hmwk.
btw, are you using IE? For somereason it doesnt work too well it it. I'll tell my brother anyways.
The counter was just a page load thing...but i doubt people would actually reload the page over and over...not including our visits. (it was more of a rough number experiment).
Interesting, that "pink box" your referring to is supposed to be where the number list is. (as a little background). I dont know what your problem is, nor my brother....it may be your browser?
To humor the party pooper who complained, I will censor my quote=======
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:: Never hold your farts in. They travel up your spine, into your brain, and THAT is where poopy-ish ideas come from!!
I'm using IE. You should try to make it compatible with all popular browsers even if you don't use them yourselves... I had another look and this time I could read the names but the title was cut off in parts. Then the browser froze and I had to shut it down, actually that happened last time too but I didn't realise it was related to the page... I'll try again and see if it happens this time.
Yep, it definitely causes a problem. PS ignore my last comment about the list; I was looking at the top 10 US women, I didn't realise because as I said the title was cut off. I still have the same problem I did with the mens list the first time I mentioned it. I'll try to get a screenshot if you can tell me where to email/post it.
Thanks for the help, comments, etc. I told him, and guess what he said: "too bad" -.-
...actually, he cant really change it so it works with IE. His iWeb is what he uses and it's the only thing he has/knows that will make the little blog/comments (and have a somewhat unique look).
At the top of the page, it says "Download the new IE, or firefox..or something like that." But when i flip on my IE, that line gets messed up. :(
I'm kindof embarrassed now...as in: why did i ask if i already know what to fix! haha...other than that, (i mean, if you use firefox), anything else that we should change?

Over 65% of my hits come from IE users. Only 22% from Firefox users, which is next on the list. So if you aren't going to make your site IE compatible you are reducing you potential hits by a very significant amount.

well actually people who read undergroundtennis are usually tennis parents nuts, who have nothing better to do. There the ones who usually try really hard to make their kids better tennis players/get news and they'll usually do anything to make the site work. Btw, it's all about content (the articles, whch are readable in IE7 and Firefox...and the other ones).
...also people are starting to him to write for other sites...it's also helping him get coaching jobs. Etc etc, so actually the site is serving it's purpose, pourpose, porpose, well enough.
....BUT BUT! IT should still be IE compatible; i insist.

So I guess the 65% of people out there who use IE are comedic computer users.
I ain't saying IE is a good browser, but if YOU are serious about wanting advice to improve your site, you should make some attempt so that it is compatible with all popular browsers. You're the one who asked for advice, remember?

well you could always use Firefox 2 - I downloaded the final version when it was released the other day and it's pretty sucky so far - half the websites i went to didnt display pages correctly or not at all. hopefully they will have fixed that gaping java based security flaw as well.
comedic computer users? meaning? i didnt know my limited knowledge of computers was so damn funny. or perhaps since i've been busy actually having a life, i guess i'm the one who should be laughing. quite honestly, your catty barbs get irritating at times.
It would be kind of like making an auto accessory that cant be used on GM products. Maybe they arent the most dependable car on the road, but the market share is so large why would you exclude them?
