60x60 5kb ok but when i resize the image i have for my avatar, i get the 60x60, but i cant get the file size to be smaller. this is probly a basic thing to do but i'm drawing a blank on what to do. Help?

That depends on what format you save them in - I suggest when 'saving as' type in .gif as the extension - it usually works. You can also try this!

Actually Amaris (ladyprariefire) mentioned the Av Sizer in another thread, so I can't take the credit for finding it!

from what i saw, it does the same thing(s) i can do in other software, such as microsoft's "picture it" ( reduction, cropping, etc) is there a difference?

Yeah, I guess it just keeps the av a tad bit 'smoother', although my current av had to be edited a ton in PhotoFiltre after resizing it with the Av Sizer..

I would like to put my vote in for 100x100 avatar sizes. :o)

And the 600x100 image siz size =) ...actually i lke it the way it is

I actually just crop if necessary, and resize mine in Photofiltre. Then save as a jpeg.

I resize mine in Photoshop, then if the kb is still too big ...( dern it ! ) I pop it in Photo Editor ....that always does the trick
