We decide to create a new gallery called 'photography->Architecture'.
The goal is to show most beautiful constructions of human through the ages. That goes from Stonehenge to now. You'll find castles, cathedrals, churches, bridges, ... barns (for Jojomercury) hehe!
What do you think? :-)
hmm i'd love to put my castle ruins work in here.. but i think they still fit better into the manipulation section... but still im so drawn to this new gallery... ahhh where to put my stufff?!?!?!??!! lol my pooor brain :D
Would you really need to upload the image twice. Perhaps Caedes can make it that the same image can be referenced in both galleries. It would save on disk space if nothing else.

The actual position in the Mods forum is that 'Flowers' gallery = 'Macro' gallery.
Actually, more than 50% of pictures in the 'Photography->macro' gallery are flowers... That means there are ± 250 flowers pictures... Enough to have a specific gallery, I think.
I'll speak about that in the Mods forum...
Tracy: I think that if a 3D image is very abstract, then it should go in abstract. For example, some of Cain's images use 3D studio max, but I would class them as abstract, not 3D.
I had assumed that the 3D gallery would be a sub-gallery of computer, not a whole new category. I am not sure that we need to break down 3D into further distinctions.

On the path of new galleries, a wildlife gallery and a pets gallery would be a good addition with the existing bird gallery as a sub in the wildlife gallery;-)
A sub-gallery.... "Space - Computer" or "Computer - Space" There are a good number of computer generated space images....also another thought for the mods to toss around, maybe a "Public Domain" Gallery, for NASA shots and other public images. :c)
Yes, Tom. That's a problem. For now, we move trough the 'space' gallery only real photos (Nasa, ...) There is a lot of 'computer->space' pics who need a specific gallery, I think.
I think the aim of galleries is to aid navigation.
To that end, we should not have too many categories, nor too many levels of gallery. I personally do not think we need a public domain gallery because it would not aid navigation (I don't think 'public domain' tells you anything about the picture).

Thank you, Pierre. The new gallery you created: Computer<Space is an excellent example of how we can thin out galleries and simplify navigation. Kudos.
By the way, I can never figure out the < > thingies. Which one is dominant -- should it be Galleries>Computer>Space or Galleries<Computer<Space.
Pierre, I just want to say thanks for the work you (and others?) are doing on these new galleries. Can't be easy. I also wanted to say how impressive the first visit to these galleries can be. To see all the beautiful shots relating to that category and know you do not have to weed through. Knowing that the next page will reveal more of the same and you are just one click away. It's impressive and so much easier to pick up where you left off. ;)
My count:
Photography->Pets: ±24 photos
Photography->People: ± 19 photos
Photography->Shrooms: ± 26 photos
Photography->Mammals: ± 46 photos (without pets)
Seems to be ok for a Mammals gallery :-)
What do you think: can we move the pets photos in the 'Photography->Mammals' gallery or have a specific gallery?
Wow, thanks Pierre! I thought there would be more shroom pics than that...that's a surprise! Pets should have a seperate gallery. Would make a lot less work if all galleries were set up now...they will eventually fill up;-) Pierre, did you actually have to go through all the image pages to count these or was it a wallpaper search?
I visited all the Photo->General, ->Nature and ->Macro galleries. I think we can create a ->Pets gallery soon. These photos are not well in the ->General gallery.
Yes. Why not. But the only way to make that is to create these two galleries, move the pictures. Then, when the 'Photography->Self' will be empty, it will disappear...
Ok ?
First scenario:
1) Create: 'Personal->Self' + 'Personal->Pets' galleries
2) Move all pics from 'Photography->Self' trough 'Personal->Self'
3) Move all pets pics from 'Photography->General' trough 'Personal->Pets'
4) Delete the 'Photography->Self' gallery
Second scenario:
1) Create: 'Personal->Self' + 'Photography->Pets' galleries
2) Move all pics from 'Photography->Self' trough 'Personal->Self'
3) Move all pets pics from 'Photography->General' trough 'Photography->Pets'
4) Delete the 'Photography->Self' gallery
Self is definately photography Sam;-) Anything captured with a camera should be under photography as sub galleries. The scenario that best accomplishes that is scenario #1.
Darryl: Pierres first scenario involves removing the "self" gallery from "photography" to "Personal". Also note that some photographs are also in "Space", "Etc" and "Holidays". What I really meant is that the "Self" photos are really not intended as desktop backgrounds, unlike most of the images in that gallery.
I do agree that the first scenario makes more sense Pierre.
Hmmm... Agree with Crusader. Most of the pictures in the 'Space' gallery are coming from Nasa and most of the pictures in the 'Photography' gallery are taken by the members. A specific gallery is necessary, I think...
