Wallpaper -is it a safe medium for art!?

I really enjoy how wallpaper is an easy to share, but I have concerns about posting my own photos as wallpaper on Caedes as it is so easily excessable. Why couldn't anyone download the wallpaper and post it on any free wallpapersite or even print it and massproduce as postcards in some far of country?!
It's almost feels like having your kids running out at night not knowing where they will end up! Am I a bit paronid, or can anyone relate to what I feel?

Read a few posts in the Vigilante thread, that should help you decide if you think it's safe enough or not.

well, i sort of understand. if you're contributing to a site where people freely share with one another, isn't a certain expectation of mass production or at least, mass viewing par for the course?

Sure people could mass DL your stuff and use it anyway they want. Sam makes a great point about the Vigilante thread, we try to help & protect one another and it works pretty darn well.

I use the site to gain information about how to do what I do...better, as I'm an amateur. Also it gets me out & about in the world, before Caedes no one knew who I was...now at least 4 people do. 8~) I've meant tons of grrreat people here and there's a plethora of information to be gained...if you're willing to listen and learn.

If your stuff is far beyond what you see here, you may want to check into a registered copyright and an agent to get you published. Best of luck either way, we'd luv to have you here and see your works!!

Oh, and WELCOME to Caedes!!

Um, when i asked, what if sum1 doesnt take down the copywritted wallpaper from their website. Caedes responded "It is really only up to the owner of the image. They have the option of filing suit against you if they really want to. They could also send a DMCA takedown notice to myspace and myspace would be forced to remove the image or your whole page (their choice)."

...whatever that means. =P Sounds good to me! lol...also note that this was from another thread, something about using images on myspace.

As someone who's been active in the Vigilante Justice forum, I have to say that while some sites give more of a problem than others taking down images, we've always been able to organize and get it to happen. There's about to be another mass move on a site over the weekend actually 8•)

All images here ARE copyrighted for sure, however, no legal action could pursue unless the image itself was a registered copyrighted image, there's a fee for that. I can make an image right now and never share it...is it copyrighted? Yes! Is it protected? No. If someone uses it in a manner I intended not, I have no legal recourse, unless I got a registered copyright for said work. That's what I got from RIGHT HERE .

The truth is as you stated. It is like sending out your kids and not knowing where they are going. If you decide to post your art, its a good chance that someone will use it someplace, and even though people around here try and fight it, it will always still happen. But the truth is what good is art if no one sees it?

No one wanted to pay to say something in my sig, so i will have to try and think of something creative now...

Yep. I agree. If you're paranoid about your work being ripped off and massed produced - don't put it on the internet in anything other than a low resolution image with a copyright watermark and your name right over the middle of the image. You keep the high res, printable stuff strictly under your control.

thats sort of what i do too...i have to resize everything i submit to 1600x1200...but that goes to one folder, while the originals stay elsewhere...i'm guessing most of you do that too

Thanks for the many responses to my worry! I looked at the Vigilante thread and think it is good forum to look out for the bad guys!
I like your point Hottrockin, that through Caedes people get to know your art! Simply a great place to start.
