Taken while hiking the wooded uplands above the St. Croix River Valley, in Afton State Park. The park is one of my favorite spots for fall color.
Capturing the dawn light along the near shore. Another early morning shot of Wynne Lake in northern Minnesota.
I thought... if you gave a squirrel a camera, what would he shoot?
Taken while enjoying an early morning perambulation.
An unexpected find in the woods.
Out for a wet walk through the dew-laden grass, enjoying autumn's showcase.
Before setting out on the lake for some fishing, the first order of business was capturing the sunrise.
Clear, calm air on a chill fall morning. Shot during the golden hour, when few people are out and about and only nature's sound disturb the quiet.
Taken at dawn while prowling the shore of Wynne Lake in northern Minnesota.
Fall colors aren't always seen overhead. Just don't lose your balance and fall in.
The early morning light is just beginning to chase away the shadows.
Three stalwart maples laying down their leaves to form a carpet of gold.
Taken near Wynne Lake in Northern Minnesota. I was supposed to be playing golf, but took some time out for a few photos.
A preview of the coming season.
Some color to mark summer's passing in celebration of its sunny warmth and comfort. (Forget about those hot, humid days in the 90s.) ☺ The image is from my favorite shop at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.
A walk in the woods on Pike Island. The island is named after Lt. Zebulon Pike, who stopped here to camp in 1805 during his exploration of the Mississippi River. The Dakota, who occupied this area at the time, considered this land sacred. I tend to agree.
This shot looks out over the water in a small marsh at sunset. The clouds are trailing a storm system that had moved through the area an hour or two earlier.
This is a photograph of an outdoor sculpture representing trees in a forest. What caught my eye were the lines, color, and late afternoon sunlight.
A calm, peaceful evening on the lake. Music provided by the haunting call of loons, the croaking of bullfrogs, and the occasional hoot of an owl.
Went out for a walk in the woods last night, got lost, and took this picture. A tiny man, about 18 inches tall, with a pointy red hat was kind enough to direct me back to the trail. ☺
