Clouds of Alberta by Andfre
I think this may be one of my favourite photos I have ever taken, and I almost missed it. As I drove by I did not notice this perfect location; luckily my companion was eating her carrots.

Deadmans Flats Trilogy: II by Andfre
This second picture is looking towards the City of Calgary, Alberta, which is some 50 miles away. Deadmans Flats is a place caught between the tranquility of nature and the boom of development. While you sit by the river and notice everything you see is gorgeous and unspoiled, your ears are assaulted by sound pollution coming from the nearby Trans Canada Highway. Amongst the vehicular noise you can also hear construction on a condominium project which is footsteps away, along with the occasional helicopter on a sightseeing trip from nearby Canmore. With all the development in the area this place will not remain as it was on this day - April 8, 2007

The Forgotten Place by Andfre
As I was walking through the grass I think I stumbled over the wheel as it lay flat - at least that is how I choose to remember it now. I picked it up and found myself looking through the spokes at the shack on the horizon.

Curious Coyote by Andfre
I love coyotes. Living in Banff National Park, we see coyotes around all the time. They scavenge around in town too, generally at night. The thing I like the best - their curiosity. Whenever you drive by one, they often will run away, but they always look back at you over their shoulder. Most other animals seem to forget about you as soon as they look away. My 12y daughter took this photo a couple of days ago near Two Jack Lake when we were on an afternoon drive.

Serenity by Andfre
I looked out my window and saw big fluffy clouds so I grabbed my point-n-shoot quick like a bunny and jumped in my car and high-tailed it to Vermillion Lake to take this picture before it was too late. I like clouds in my pics when possible. That's Tunnel Mountain on the left and Rundle Mountain on the right. This pic is dedicated to my friend Serena.

Rural farmyard in Alberta Canada. For many miles the farms surrounding the road were abandoned & without life except for birds.

Deadmans Flats Trilogy: I by Andfre
Deadmans Flats is a place caught between the tranquility of nature and the boom of development. Amongst the vehicular noise you can also hear construction on a condominium project which is footsteps away, along with the occasional helicopter on a sightseeing trip from nearby Canmore. Even this "pristine" mountain itself is a myth, as the lower left hand side (just out of the range of this photo) is scarred by a surface mine. With all the development in the area this place will not remain as it was on this day - April 8, 2007.

Big Farm-Small Sky/RVS by Andfre
When I was younger people would say to carry your camera with you at all times "just in case." As with many things I did not pay much heed to that advice. However, now I preach that as well because of random photo's like this one. I was just driving along minding my own business when it jumped out at me. I swerved/ nearly hit the ditch, but recovered long enough to snap the shot!

Ready for it? - Rework by Samatar
I just had to have a go at making the wall stand out in this shot by Andfre. I really liked the composition of the original shot but felt the lighting let the shot down a bit; hopefully you'll agree that this is an improvement. Full credit for the photo goes of course to Andfre.

The Road Home by Andfre
I wanted to capture a sence of the road's perspective. We spend so much time zooming over it without really stopping to peer through it's eyes. So I waited, and waited, and waited some more until there was no traffic. I laid down in the middle of the highway and saw what it sees each moment. It was peaceful. Then I heard a truck coming!

Queen of the North by Andfre
I took this picture on Sept 30th-2005 on the Queen of the North, an open sea ferry which sank March 22nd-2006 with 101 people on board. Everyone was rescued except for two people who are missing. The picture was taken from the bridge looking through the window which accounts for the scratch marks.
The ship has a colorful history including time as a floating casino way back in the day. If your interested on seeing more ship specs you can click: Queen of the North or here for the news release: Experts rule out mechanical failure in B.C. ferry sinking.

Update: April 14-2007 The official report blames the sinking on human error. The vessel remains under water and the two missing people were never found. Human error blamed for Queen of the North sinking

Dungeon by Andfre
A super wonderful place known as the Dungeon, this was my favorite place on a recent trip to Newfoundland.

Dungeon Provincial Park: About a mile as the crow flies to the south of Cape Bonavista on the Trinity Bay side of the tip of the peninsula, is a very unusual rock formation known far and wide as the Dungeon. It is essentially a twin entranced sea cave with a collapsed roof, which has been carved into the cliff face by the incessant action of the sea. Photographed by many and ventured down into by the adventurous few, in their quest to acquire samples of fools gold. It ranks high on the list of sites in the area to be visited.

Part of Canada's Parliament complex in Ottawa as seen through the reflection of a modern office building. The contemporary building was in full shadow while the historic structure was mostly bathed in sunlight, creating an almost flawless mirror.

A Sudden Wall by Andfre
Standing by the country road the stone wall appears to be all by itself in the barren land. However, if you were to turn around and look the other way you would see a gigantic oil refinery with massive smokestacks. I wish I'd taken a shot of that factory. Note: this is the 3rd time I've reworked this photo, if you have some deja vu that could be why.

Road to Eston by Andfre
I sometimes find it funny when driving through Saskatchewan and there is a turn in the road without a visible topographic reason. In this case, I remember there used to be a town called Snipe Lake just to the right of this photo; it had a few grain elevators and the road takes a left to go around and a right (as shown) to go back to the original bearing. The town is pretty much all gone now; it just looks like a small farm.

House of Unmentionable Sorrow by Andfre
I may have read one too many of Stephen King's books.

Seriously though, I did read Salem's Lot recently; although that was not on my mind when I messed this up yesterday. If it would have been I believe the outcome may have been similar, or not too dissimilar. Really, don't mention it. I've confused myself. But I can’t help but feel like something or someone is watching me. Oh yeah, it's the house. The House of Unmentionable Sorrow...moo ha ha. Damn it, I forgot & then mentioned it! Oh there it is again, the feeling like I am being watched...

Corrugate Me (Unappealing to the Masses) by Andfre
A wall in a back alley on Granville Island, Vancouver, BC. Judging from the voting booth score this pic is unappealing to the masses, which is fine by me. If you actually like it, that's okay too.
