You could write your own haiku and add it to your image.
From the Wikipedia:
"Modern Japanese haiku (現代俳句 gendai-haiku?) are increasingly unlikely to follow the tradition of 17 on (syllables) or to take nature as their subject, but the use of juxtaposition continues to be honored in both traditional and modern haiku. There is a common, although relatively recent, perception that the images juxtaposed must be directly observed everyday objects or occurrences."
I thought about Books for a topic. In a still life, on shelves, as booster seats, whole libraries or even "moves very fast" as in "That dude is really booking!"
As I type, "Autumn Leaves" appears to be in the lead but, no disrespect meant to the individual who suggested it, haven't we done and redone this topic? and isn't it a little too obvious for the season? The song, "The Times They Are A-Changin'" could be adjusted to "Life" is changing, "Technology" is changing, "My Face", "The Landscape", "Graphic Images" that change in texture or hue from point to point, "Animals" or birds whose coats change with the seasons, and yes, "Seasons" as well, including Autumn. As we look around we can see change everywhere, some obvious some not so. So howz about we try a topic that challenges our creativity and powers of observation, and we might just attract a few more submissions... I remember a time when there were lots of choices when voting on contest submissions, but lately we're lucky to fill a single page.
If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.
Okay, I have to say that Autumn leaves, although apropos, has been done a zillion times. As an abstract digital artist who only dabbles in photography from time to time I'll sit out yet another contest. There are many themes that could have been used to incorporate pretty autumn leaves and still left the contest open to others. Just "Autumn", or "Color Me Gone" or "Summer's Gone. This would have included those in extreme climates who don't have autumn leaves, or maybe someone who lives exclusively in the city. And... it's been done. Sorry, just my humble opinion.
FlimBB you could still do some of your creative works with Autumn colors, or earthly tones, I think that would fit the contest. Just my humble opinion.
