ryzst: Thank you for the nice comments.

It takes some time to retrain your vision for macrophotography & how to achieve good results. For me, the reduced depth of field (DOF) continues to be the main challenge. And if that wasn't enough, I bought the EF 12 II Extension Tube for the 100mm lens to increase magnification past the 1X it can currently achieve. That will decrease the DOF even more and also eliminate focusing to infinity. Ideally, I'd like to be able to shoot about 0.5-2X

4th place
Ladybug by Eubeen

bfrank: Did good in the capture of this lady bug on your lamp. Good focus for the indoors Wendell. Don't much care for insects inside the house so I'm with you about kicking him out.

palral: First of all, I love the composition and perspective. Most people would have rotated the shot to get the bug "right side up" whatever that would have been. I mentioned your photographer's eye before, and you "done good" with it this time. Just think what you could be doing with two eyes.

A little short on the depth of field, but the majority of the little beetle is well focused although I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's sharply focused. Nice use of lighting, but I'm sorry to hear that you tossed her out into the cold where she was immediately eaten by a hungry bat.

10 on the composition and perspective. 6 on the focus. 8 on the colors. All and all, a 7.5-7.785.
