Those blue mountains on the distant horizon may be in Canada, possibly in the Waterton portion of Glacier National Park. This view is overlooking the north fork of the easy flowing Flathead River, along the west edge of the Park, about 10 miles from the Canadian border. Essentially you are in the park looking out of it. This spot is about halfway between the tiny town of Polebridge and Kintna Lake, along one of the worst single-lane, dirt-and-gravel roads I've ever driven on (it was worth the rough ride though). The drop to the water here is at least 50 feet and I was glad that I spotted just a hint of this view from the road, otherwise we would have passed it right by instead of stopping and walking out to the edge. The blue in the middle of the channel is the same glacial water seen all over the park, and the reddish-gold near the bank is from the same pale red rocks along the shore, now deeper red under the water. Look closely for something in the photo I call a "hidden Medusa."
