This was taken with the Panasonic FZ35 and I had to use some noise reduction software. It not only quiets it down, it blurs the limbs a bit. I don't have near the problem with noise on the Nikon, but I was traveling light this day and wouldn't you know it--a good scene presented itself.

I know exactly what you mean, TicK. I can't think of how many times I've had similar problems. Nonetheless, it's an excellent scene. Except for the bleeding from the noise reduction you alluded to, the shot has all the components of a winner.

The obvious answer is to take a few hundred hours isolating the sky and just reduce the noise from the sky. With this scene, I think 200 hours seems reasonable.

It's be worth the trip back with your other camera if it's not too far out of the way.

Looks like a GREAT scene presented itself! Gorgeous shot. Love that sky, and the little bit of blur in the tee branches looks artistic to me. It's almost like Centralized Orton Effect. You may have invented something new, Tick!

I think it is a great one myself Tick. I like do noise reduction in the sky myself but like roger said. This would have been at least 200 hours worth of work. Nicely composed and I like the color. This scene would be a great 3 shot hdr.

I love that sky, and the overall image, is truly wonderful. For some reason the blur does bother me in this image, very nice.

A little 'extra' to Roger's comment!...If you select the sky ...with a feathering of around 10-15pxs...then used the noise reduction!...that could have worked better!
However, this worked out much better that you suggested!..love the viewpoint of where you sanpped it too!

On another note..I bet the pallbearers had a helluva job carry'ing down that incline!...

The "Panasonic FZ series" have unbeatable Leica lens but alas they do suffer from noise, I've found "Neat Image" set up on custom settings reduces noise without adding a smudged effect. This landscape scene is lovely Tic, but I think it needs a heavy coating of snow Lol.

Cemeteries are oft overlooked sources for interesting and moody photography. The bonus here are the bare trees reaching for the sky like many-fingered hands reaching out of the ground. I'm used to flat cemeteries, not ones with ravines running through the middle, so this one really peaked my interest. Did you have time to look around for any historic stones in here? On the northern plains, many of our rural cemeteries contain a number of iron crosses, crafted by local blacksmiths. The reason? Grass fires destroyed many of the old wooden headstones. To this day my uncle Jack is buried in a churchyard south of town but no one knows exactly where. Good image, Ron.
