This courthouse sets in the middle of what is claimed to be the largest town square in the World. You can read all about this historic town in Iowa here. I was in this town today watching my grandson play in a basketball tournament.

This was taken with the Canon PowerShot A3100 12.1 megapixels camera. It fits easily into the pocket. In the editing room (CS5) I used the unsharp filter, levels and curves to enhance the scene. I cropped in Photoscape and resized and added a little contrast in Photofiltre. The last two programs are free. I hope you enjoy this little bit of history from the USA.

Nothing like a small Midwest town with a town square, and a bandstand! Great looking shot with the PowerShot, Tick.

Enjoyed this shot. We lost our snow the other day. It was 50 F one day. Only got up to 40 F today. I'm sure we will have another good round of snow, but it sure doesn't feel like it.

Bloody Nora!...you know more about PS that I do now!!!...

Good capture, even to the falling snowflakes, bland sky, but that is to be expected on a day like this!...

Beautiful shot, very impressive. I am not much about courts and courthouses. LOL But I love buildings and architecture like this, really wonderful.

There really is a Centerville and not just in fiction. It seems the population density has decreased some in the last year. Only 5000 residents, but the biggest known town square. It definitley looks like Winter with the snow falling and the gray sky overhead.

Tick - A very fine winter shot of this early 1900's courthouse. I hope your grandson fared well in his tournament. Thad

What kind of message is the judiciary system sending out to the people when the courthouse is pointing cannons at them? A great Americana shot, Tick. Good composition of the photo. I like the snow falling on the scene.

TicK....You get an A+ for the narrative and the same for the shot. I use the next to free version of PhotoFiltre and use Photoscape only for certain commands. It irritates me to no end that PhotoFiltre is spelled ending in "re", but that's because it's made by some socialist, commie regime in Europe.

A beauty of a shot of wintertime Americana, but I've seen bigger town squares. On my screen the square is only slightly over a foot across.

Impressive building indeed. Although I am a bit concerned about the cannon outside. If your found guilty do they fire you off to the jailhouse?
