I would like you to meet Sir Gus Anserini. He was a former Wing Commander in the RCAF. Sir Gus retired recently and I interviewed him for the local newspaper. He might be popping up in an image from time to time so you should know a little about him. This particular image is straight from the camera with no manipulation.

Sir Gus said he has guided many a goose across North America and has even flown across the Big Pond a time or two. Everyone once in a while a flock of ducks will invade his air space and want some help.
"I try to help them, but they lose focus so easily," he said.
"They will give you goosebumps if you let them. The ducks are mostly feathers with no heart or brains, have absolutely no discipline and will lose their head when under pressure. They are apt to land anywhere and can't spell V, let alone form one. They truly make better foot soldiers. Fodder for foxes, we like to say." With that he was gone and said he would catch me on the next trip.

It's those voices again isn't it....They tell you to talk to the birds and when they answer,You're rewarded with Bonny coloured lights in your head...Do they ever tell you that you're quackers...If they do you have defintely joined the flock..Pictures good mind...R.

Standing upright with his head held high Sir Gus said a few words about his subordinates prior to his departure and you were lucky to be present there with your microphone Tick. Hmm - I'm off to bed Tick - it is well past midnight here. I hope I don't dream of Sir Gus doing a tour in Afghanistan.

I love the story, and the focus on him, and the blurred focus on the ducks is superbly captured, very good fresh from the camera shot. Tigs♥ =^..^=

Well Sir Gus does have a commanding presence in the scene. Good clarity and DoF in the photo. A nicely presented scene.

Great capture with a great story Tick. You really should write these down and publish them. You could even use your captures in the book.

Good morning Sir Gus it's a pleasure to meet such a distinguished gent such as yourself. I understand you've travelled across the big pond on a few occasions, have you by any chance meet a Greylag Goose called Earl he's quite a character!
I must say Ticks portrait of you is very good.

Well I have to feel sorry for the FFF's.
I look forward to further news of Sir Gus. He sounds rather superior and I hope he does not look down his beak to much at you Tick. Look him in the eye and demand answers!~
He is trying his best to ignore the lower quacker life forms around him

Hi Tick, thanks for the comments you left me on my recent upload. I wanted to post something to get back in touch with you all at Caedes. You and I have been in touch from time to time in the 'real' world and I'm grateful for that. I can't promise to resume Caedes how I used to; but I intend to drop in from time to time and post the odd image. Otherwise I have updated my email address and also now use a popular social networking site (!) so I can be found there too. Nice to hear from you Tick (we have a Tick in the village too!!). As for Sir Gus, he and his friends are very regular visitors to our bird reserve!
