A good friend of the family lost her father January 1st of this year, and her mother June 11th. They were 68 and 66 respectively. They lived in the hills of Missouri and he cut this tree to serve as her clothesline pole. I was touched by the way the light was shining on this cross like pole.

The pole and clothesline have seen better days, but they are now enjoying their better days.

It was a savage loss to loose both parents so close together Tic, but no doubt you've been a source of comfort to your bereaved friend. Yes the clothes pole does resemble a cross, and it serves as a type of memorial.

A touching tribute to the couple. The lighting caught my eye right away as well as the unique clothesline pole. To me the image has a feeling of spirituality. This will do well in the current contest ... best wishes, Tick & very well captured.

It's so nice that you saw this as a memorial Tick. It's really something, the things we don't notice until someone is gone. A wonderful thought and a great shot my friend.

The sentiment seems enveloped by the cross and ethereal presence of the sunlit background. A place where time is no longer significant. Very moving, Tick.

Simple, but speaks volumes!...the simplicity adds a humble message that not all things should be grand!

I kinda like that the 'clothes line' has a bit of 'support' too!

Except for the clothespins, this memorial to your friends parents looks to be a cross at a grave site from the 1800's. The subject is simple and quite complicated at the same time. Nice detail work, TicK. And why are you signing your name with a small "K" now?

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

A great tribute to a loving couple Tick. A good capture of the old clothesline pole. They are a dying breed in the land of subdivisions and housing developments. Great colours and lighting in the scene.
