I discovered this photo opportunity on a day's outing when I was in Rochester, MN this summer. I waited for a train to come by, but it must have been held up somewhere. When you are from Missouri, you figure a train holdup is inevitable. This is located obviously in Red Wing, Mn. You can read more about it here.

In the background Barn Bluff overlooks the town and its history is very interesting. You can check it out here. The Mississippi River is just to the right of this scene and it was flooding. I might post one of it at a later date. If a train had come along, I would have been caught between a brick and a wet place. Maybe a couple of wet places.

If you look closely you will see the American Flag atop Barn Bluff and something in the sky. It might be a bird, it might not. I could have cloned it out, but decided to leave it there.

It is a nice capture of an interesting historical railway station. The first thing I noticed was that there is no platform. All on ground level. Nobody to help the old ladies off the train! Good post Tick.

Nice perspective of the train station, TicK. You've got the complete scene with RR crossing signals, station, a few trains, the tracks and even the silos. That UFO spot in the air is actually Cornelius (aka Mr. C, aka SEA aka Corngrowth) shooting his "People In The AIr" series.

Enjoyed the links, though you still had the best image. My younger brother lives on Farm Island lake, a few miles from Aitkin, Mn.

Extraordinary detail and clarity, Tick. I liked the link, too. Tick, I magnified your picture to the max but could not figure out what that image near the flag is. My best guess is that it is a flying saucer. There may be a chance I could be wrong, but that is my guess!

Wonderful old building Tick - I see some cars of trains sitting around. This looks like a great place to have one of those tourist train rides. I love taking those trips. Great shot.

ive found that waiting & standing in front of trains to take a picture of them in motion..seems to piss off the engineer! yeah i know..go figure right?

Wow, you were most definitely in my neck of the woods ... I'm about 2 hours south of Red Wing or 1 1/2 hours from Rochester. I like the angle you captured the depot at ... excellent detail too. It is a small city full of history. Wonderful capture, Tick.
