Friend/Hunting Companion - One

This three shot FDR is dedicated to my good friend Bear. We have deer hunted together since 1970 and enjoyed each and everyone of those hunts. We don't hunt as hard as we once did, but our stories have gotten better over the years. Deer hunting is more about the stories then it is about the hunting.

This barn is located on one of his farms and is all that is left of the buildings, including a house, that once decorated the landscape. The beans that grew in the field surrounding the barn this year were a record crop. He was quite pleased. I didn't realize beans could please a bear so much. :) We didn't kill a deer this year. Not that we didn't see any--we just enjoyed the visiting more. Oh, how time changes the landscape.

I have deer hunted with a Bear, Frog and Pigg over the years and will find a photo suitable for each before I finish this series.

Edit: I got to calling HDR, FDR years ago and I can't stop. If they came up with an HFK processing, I am sure I would change it to JFK. :)

At first glance, I thought that maybe a bear had gone on a rampage throughout this barn Tick. I would imagine this old barn has seen and heard its share of stories like you and your friends tell - tall tales I am certain. Great photo.

Nice FDR / HDR work Tick. The detail is so crisp on the barn. As the landscape changes I think we all change with it. I can only imagine the hunting stories you & your buddies shared over the years. A wonderful dedication for your friend, Bear.

Tick, I again enjoyed your narrative. You are a virtuoso in words. The supplied and appropriate picture makes the narrative even more appealing to the imagination. Thanks for another wonderful contribution Owd Fella. Perfectly done!

That barn looks lonely and cold. You did a good job with the 3 image FDR. One thing I can't figure out, though. Why would a Bear, and a Pigg want to keep company with a Tick? You probably were never any danger to a Frog, though. lol.

You have made this relic of a barn look presentable with the help of Mr. Roosevelt Tick. Your pal must have enjoyed visiting the old pastures with you. The deer that were not shot must have been just as happy as you.

A wonderful narrative Tick and a lot of truth in how we change with the passage of time - the importance of things gets re-ordered.

I have probably mentioned this before, but I love barns. Amazing lighting. The snow and dried weeds truly ad to the capture.

Beans may be a factor in why you have yet to shoot a deer this season. I think they have a keen sense of smell. Great looking barn with your three shot H...FDR.

If Bears eat Beans...and you go hunting them....A fart would knock you all flat!

I think we 'Tick' the Bears and the deer off the list for now!

I like this!

Tick - That was a stately barn - back in the day. Now, air-conditioning has been added at no extra cost. The flat farmland surrounding provides a sense of isolation, for as you described, there are no remaining buildings on the farm. Thad
