As I endure another winter
And my bones seem to freeze,
My mind drifts away
To a warm summer breeze.
I think of birds singing
Instead of begging for seeds,
And watching them nesting
Amidst the warm summer breeze.
Children running and playing,
Ignoring the humming of bees;
Fishermen baiting and casting,
In the warm summer breeze.
The livestock are shivering
And huddled in trees,
Perhaps they to long
For a warm summer breeze.
Golf balls are flying,
Dogs are scratching their fleas;
Hummingbirds are feeding,
In the warm summer breeze.
I have given it much thought,
And tonight when I hit my knees,
You can bet I will be praying
For a warm summer breeze.
