This old, decrepit, barn finally bit the dust even though it is pictured in snow. It was in my gallery, before several were deleted a few years ago. I first found this barn hiding in a stand of trees just off the highway over four years ago. I was on my way to the dentist and didn't have time to stop and take photos. My wife and I made a special trip after a new snow to get some shots. Much better then the shots I got at the dentist I might add. I always look in the clump of trees when I travel that road, but the barn has disappeared.

I believe this barn reminds us that, even though we have lost someone or something, the memory continues whether it be a photo, a place or a time. This is dedicated to all those who have recently lost a loved one.

That's a beauty of a shot, Tick. One of my barns has bit the dust too. It's almost like losing a friend.

Old barns never die if they are on caedes Tick. I loved your barn stories that you used to write. This barn's story is at an end.

It is a strange feeling, though, when someone who has been such an enormous part of the "scenery" (my husband, who passed a year ago) is no longer there. But, in your image, even though the barn doesn't stand there any more, you have brought it to memory by your wonderful narrative and the superb editing of this photo.

A very thoughtful narrative Tick and a wonderful accompanying image. A lesson for us as well: don't make captures when you have an appointment with the dentist or don't go to the dentist when you're on a photo shoot, lol.

Thanks for this one Owd Fella!

Sad to think it is gone, but Your beautiful photograph lives on Tick. A great shot - love that weathered wood and that chunky roof line. A nice tribute Tick and I hope someone was able to recycle some of the barn wood from this beauty.

its a hard pill to swallow and even harder shot to take TicK, thats for sure! a thoughtful post and narrative i might add. last years heavy snows took alot a barns down around here as well, sad to see them go when "those" just cant be replaced with new. this is why we take pictures, memories is the only thing we get to keep or own.

Tick - Superb work! Framing the barn with the trees, and having the contrast of snow below and sky above gives the barn is aged beauty. Thad
