This was taken close to where my late deer hunting friend Frog lived. Here is a link to his photo. He died several years ago, but I never go deer hunting that I don't think of him. I had a story about him in a post that is no longer in my gallery. Below are some excerpts from that post :

He was dying when he said: "I want to hunt a least one more time before I croak!" He also made homemade wine and he once made me some peach/apple wine. I must admit it had a different twang to it. He had let it age for at least two hours. It had a good bite to it and I asked him what proof was his latest concoction. He looked puzzled for a moment, leaned back and calmly said: "I'm not sure, but it tested 40 below on the Anti-Freeze testor." That was Frog.

I thought the grasses matched his beard pretty good. A possible entry for the contest.

Tick, I do remember Frog, his avie reminds me of one of Harry's old buddies who we called PJ. Just a younger version of frog. I think the exceptional light, colors, are beautiful, and the shadow play is excellent. I do think it is very contest worthy.

Tick, I've always enjoyed the stories of your deer hunting friends Bear, Frog and Pigg. To me this post (capture and narrative) is a tribute to the remarkable Frog.
A very apt entry for the 'shadows' contest as well.
If you decide that this will be your entry, I wish you Good Luck with it Owd Fella!

That's really funny about the -40 on the anti-freeze tester. I could use some of that wine about now!..your image here is gorgeous, Tick. Stunning colors, and sky....and the shadow is a knockout! I think the superb lighting had something to do with the shadow! lol. Excellent for the contest should you choose to enter it.

A nice dedication to Frog Tick. I love the anti-freeze tester story. He must have been a fun guy to know and hunt with during his lifetime. I hope he is hunting deer up there.

No wonder this reminds you of your friend Tick. -40 on the anti-freeze tester! That is stronger than Polish vodka! Beautiful and colourful image with those long shadows. This will make a nice entry for the contest.

A great narrative and tribute to a dear friend, TicK.
you picked a great place to lay in wait for the deer to emerge from the edge of the woods. Lovely warm lighting and colours in the photo.
