I read this story today in The Washington Post and wanted to share it with everyone. I remembered this photo, so thought it a good time to use it.

Obviously the horse has learned to turn a "blind eye" to its fate in life, and is making the best of a bad situation. So has Smiley the dog in the story. I think we all could learn a lesson from these animals. Don't worry so much about the little things in life, that don't matter much in the overall scheme of things. The bad hair doesn't seem to be bothering any of the horses. Just make do with what you have and do the best you can. Lesson over.

A touching story about the blind dog Tick. How true that one must learn to live with what one has! Good one with the horses here.

Great photo of these horses. As my hair continues to rapidly go from dirty blond to grey/white, I mostly find myself like the horses.

A wonderful uplifting story Tick - says volumes for what we as humans think we are "entitled" to in life and a terrific image to accompany the story.

First off, thank you for the link to the story about Smiley...oddly, I had not heard of this dog before, though he lives not far from me...what a sweet animal and touching story...I'm so glad to learn he is happy and has a good home with people who thought to share him with others where he apparently has done some good.

Yes, we can learn a lot from animals, as is also the case with the horse in your image...my heart goes out to them in their circumstances yet one can't help but see an important message to we humans...more than one, in fact.

A nice shot and a very meaningful post, SOT...a fave for me.

To many people worry about very meaningless things and do not see what great things they have so close to them.Aniimals just get on with it and in hospitals around the UK and reterirment homes they use dogs like this and to see people's or children's hearts lift is amazing.Very nice and very fitting photo for your storie and nice reminder be happy with your lot and yes I know it is hard at times .

Speaking of "blind eye" my eyesight isn't too great Tick and this dog just compensated I guess. (: This pic isn't as sharp as your other uploads but a good subject and neat narrative makes up for that.

You photo is very appropriate to pair with Smiley's story Tick. The front horse looks incredibly resigned to being behind barbed wire but has a twinkle in its eye.
Believe it or not I had read about Smiley on a NZ news site HERE A wonderful story.

A lovely shot of these horses Tick - they look well cared for and happy. I think the breeze blowing through their manes makes them look lovely. That is a wonderful ending to a very sad story for Smiley. We must wipe out these awful puppy mills - how anyone could even think of buying a puppy from one is beyond me. If the sales stop, the mills will stop.

I think I go to the same barber shop as these horses.
A nice capture of the horses, TicK. Good composition and colours in the scene.
