The old house is about to fall in, so a photo was in order to save it for posterity. The dormer balcony, with the gingerbread trim around the roof, is very attractive even though it is in decline. The textures are natural, as is the photo, except for sizing and a conversion to black and white. The house speaks to me every morning on my walk. This morning I could hear it creaking and moaning which prompted me to take its photo. I call the house Mrs. Roberts since she was the last lady to live there. She has since passed on and her son won't sell it or tear it down. There was a time it could have been saved without too much expense, but that time has come and gone. I might show a photo of the entire structure some day. I am guessing Rob (rdvb) would add a figure to the balcony.

"No live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream."

So goes the haunting of the Caedes page.

Larking behind those blinds is pure evil, Tick! Neat pic.

Black and white is the perfect choice for this image Tick!!! You captured this shot in good lighting - It must have been a beautiful house long ago - its sad to see it in such disrepair. I would like to see a shot of the entire house - color or b&w!!! Well Done!!!

A figure on the balcony and night shot of it will be just the right thing to scare all on caedes Tick. Nice one for the b/w challenge.

I don't think even a ghost could lean on that railing without it giving way. Great looking shot for the b/w challenge, Tick. The lighting is very appealing.

The condition of the house, the b/w, and the resulting moodiness offer a lot to capture the imagination...great entry for the challenge, SOT.

Is that Norma from "Psycho" I see peeking out behind the blinds?? This is absolutely perfect in B/W, with moody lighting and great textures from the peeling paint. Looks like there are pigeon prongs to keep the birds off. Much different than Romeo & Juliet's balcony in Verona, Italy. Nice work, TicK.

Excellent lighting on this!....Every house always has a story to tell throughout history! .. and as you commented...they do 'speak'!

I like the B&W effect, which has no colour cast!

Nice one

This did put a thought of "Psycho" in my mind immediately Tick - it is a shame as I'm sure Mrs.Roberts was a lovely home at a point in time - "but time and tide wait for no man" (Chaucer). Excellent image, very evocative and moody.

Wherefore art thou Romeo? Long gone. Such a shame it has declined so much but it does make a very atmospheric picture. Well done Tick

Fair Verona does not seem to have weathered the economic downturn quite so well. A good angle and capture of the old structure, TicK. Nice textures and details in the photo.
