On thy grave the rain shall fall from the eyes of a mighty nation! -- Thomas William Parsons

This was taken at the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery one of five Veterans Cemeteries located in the State of Missouri.

I felt the dignity and pride of all those who are interred here. Military cemeteries are so respectful and well maintained.

This is my tribute to all veterans, their spouses and also my entry for the contest. I hope no one finds this disrespectful.

Ron - The dignity that is present in all military cemeteries is created, in part, by the precise pattern of rows of stones, each one shaped exactly like the others from white marble. My father, a WWII veteran of the Pacific Theater, talks very little about the war scenes he witnessed, only saying that you never forget the smell of death. If only the whole of humanity could heed that message. May the men and women laid to rest here know that someday others will not follow them to such an ending.

Owd Fella Tick (OFT), it's on the contrary. Both your image and narrative show the utmost respect and dignity to the late veterans of your country.

Not only a tribute, but a good entry as well.

Whenever I visit ours here in North Dakota I'm amazed at how perfectly aligned the rows are and, as you drive by, how the patterns the lines of stones make change. It reminds me so much of the precision required of us when we were in boot camp. I think it adds greatly to the dignity and respect of such a place. Thanks, Ron.
