I chased this Sand Hill Crane all over my son's 100 acre Florida Farm trying to get a decent photo. There were a pair of them with a Colt. I'm not horsing around, that is what they call a young Sand Hill Crane. I will share more photo's of them in the future, but I particularly liked this one with the Live Oak Tree in the background.

It's just seen a lurking photographer...so decides to leg it!...lol

I hope somebody snapped you chasing this!...that would certainly be a hoot!...

Beautiful coloring and details in the feathers of this bird, Tick.

I believe that calling a young Sand Hill Crane a "colt" makes sense. After all, we call a crazed photographer (one very similar to me) running around a 100 acre ranch chasing them an "old goat." ;)

Outstanding action shot Tick, such wonderful detail & colour. Like the way you've timed it when you can see his red on the head - Bravo

Very good capture, I love seeing them as they migrate through here. I like the composition, and that the tree is in the shot as well. Tigz=^..^=

Sandhills are very common up here in North Dakota, so much so that Steele, North Dakota, decided it needed an "attraction" and put up what they call "the world's largest sandhill crane", a pretty cheesy-looking thing along I-94. It's pretty obvious that the body is made from a large propane tank (which begs the question: does it fart flames?). Good catch, Ron. Waiting for more.

Not an easy territory to run after Miss Longlegs Tick. But you still got a very clear shot of her/him. Remember this is not a golf course and watch out for hindrances :)

Apparently a candid, but wonderful, picture OFT (Owd Fella Tick).
If you had asked it permission for a photo shoot, probably it wasn't on the run, but it had posed willingly for you, ☺ .
In spite of the difficult photo conditions there, your effort was rewarded by achieving a clear shot.

Your patience and all that running around paid off Tick. What an elegant bird this is.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
