This horse didn't like the drizzling rain and foggy morning, so he showed his displeasure as the other grazed, unfazed by the racket. The lighting wasn't all that good and after messing with the photo, I decided to add a texture in IPiccy. I also had to clone out the hindquarters of another horse who was placed such as not to allow a crop. After doing all that work, I felt compelled to share it with someone. I'm sorry that you had to be one of those someone's.

Edit: On a more serious note, I would like to express my sympathy for those slain and injured in the senseless shooting in the Texas Church. Prayers to all involved.

Great B/W work. There is some mystery here. Love it.

I am glad you felt compelled. I sense the baying horse is telling those approaching to stay off his grass. He is very black and white with his feelings about encroachment and the taking of his grass.

And he likes his music too and prefers songs about his Equidae. Here is just one of those tunes, A Horse With No Name - America.

Well done. I always like information on rescuing a less than perfect photo and this one becomes something special.

You have forgotten the horse lingo Tick. You could have placed them as you wanted otherwise. All the same a good one here in b/w.

I really like this Tick - I also am always interested in how a shot was rescued and this was a great final result.

Sorry for what, Ron? This is outstanding, particularly as a black & white. That cracked rock or stucco or whatever it is really complements the photo. It's a matter of making lemonade, dude. And I agree completely with your thoughts on that shooting. It seems more and more sick people are finding the only way to "express themselves" is to destroy the lives of innocents. The amount of time our flags hang at half-mast, around this country, is getting to be entirely insane. I don't know what the solution is but we need to do something soon, or we're going to descend into complete chaos.

I would have lightened the grunge density a bit more at the center of the frame to make it feel less heavy, but I love the image overall.

I really like the lively, animated posture of the protesting horse and I seriously love the light "ghost" plants that you added throughout the photograph. Very cool effect!

This one's a winner (whinny-er?)!

My prayers join your prayers.

I like what you did - it is quite beautiful.

I think the horse is whinnying its displeasure at the madness of men.

...and now I'm about to tattle to Lyn that I've just chosen this one, Ron, as my top choice in the Black & White Challenge. I also enjoyed Lyn's comment above, because I rather saw the bellowing horse responding to its life, in general, and, in that respect, being a virtual representation of a "Houyhnhnm" (pronounced "hwinem"), a race of intelligent horses described in the last part of Jonathan Swift's satirical Gulliver's Travels.

Congrats and Happy Trails
