Old barns used to be one of my favorite photos to post on Caedes, but for some reason I got away from them. I thought it was time for another one. I'm not sure what the original use was for this barn, but I'm guessing it was a milk barn back in the day. I suppose it could have been a tobacco or cotton barn, with the opening for faster drying. I have some photos of just the barn, but I thought the gate added to the scene. I will post a photo of just the barn at a later date. In hindsight, I would have stood on something for a different angle.

Recently Carol (Starglow) posted a Gingerbread House, and I told her I thought it looked a little tilted. She told me the roof on the house was sagging some, which made it almost impossible to straighten. I think I have run into the same problem with this old fella. I straightened it, but if I straightened it according to some of the software, it really looked cattywampus.

This barn is located in the hills and hollers of Southeast Missouri. If a good landslide came along, it could end up in the Missouri Bootheel. That could be a factor as well. Whatever, I hope you enjoy.

I think the horizon line is fine in this one Tick, and that barn sure has a lean! I wonder how long it will remain standing. I like the gate in the picture, good settings on the camera brought out that wonderful sky. Very nice country scape capture. tigz=^..^=

I too like the inclusion of the fence and I think this is as straight as an old barn will get.

Great capture, it's a really unusual looking barn, quite a slope
to that roof. Never spotted one like it myself. Good find.

A gate and no driveway, that should drive the property value down a bit ;)

Sadly, this is an occurrence that is happening world wide. But this do offer a photographer some amazing pictures.

Perfect choice for adding the gate to the scene, Tick, because it has added depth into your already interesting composition.
The 'sagging' has created a more characterful image that won't be achieved by capturing 'streamlined' barns.
Good one, Owd Fella!

It looks okay to me Tick. An unusual find and a good capture of it. So many old and long unused barns in the U.S. The small farmers' days are gone it seems.

It's a very cool shot of some interesting rural architecture, but what confuses me is the fact that there's a dormer door on this end that has access to... a roof over a porch? We have dormer doors on our barns up here in the northern plains but the overhang is used to pulley up hay bales and whatnot. Here that function seems to be defeated, unless this barn's purpose was reconfigured at one time?

This huge barn sure has lots of character in my opinion - looks like it has lots of room for horses and cattle
