Not all birdies on the golf course are accomplished with a golf club.

Did you hear about the scientist who crossed a carrier pigeon with a woodpecker? He got a bird that not only delivers messages to their destination but knocks on the door when it gets there.

Up here in the Dakotas it would be a western meadowlark but this simple red-headed woodpecker on a fence post is as iconic of rural America as it gets. A common but beautiful bird with strong "graphic" attributes in the strong colors we see here. This guy appears to be looking for the address for his package delivery.

This is a good shot of the woodpecker with clear details. If this guy came and knocked while you were in the bathroom you will have to change the door.

lol, cute joke...and great capture...his rich red 'cap' really stands out amidst the earthy colors...perhaps he's keeping an eye out for a possible eagle?

Tick, if I were that scientist, I had used a mockingbird, nightingale or any other bird with singing capabilities for crossing as well. The 'postman' wouldn't have only knocked at the door when delivering a message but probably had sung this song as well, ☺ .
Thanks for the fine picture and the smile on my face, Owd Fella!
