I thought I would post another one and get my money's worth, since I paid this man to pose for me. You can see in the background where he spent his money. You can also see my other post here. Photo was taken on the levee down by the Mississippi River in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Actually, I like this shot better - he's looking right into the camera - I see a pub across the street - Great Capture!!!!!!!!!!

I must admit that I first notice his shoes and shoelaces. They look new. Then his clothes looked in good shape too. Clean and mostly wrinkle free. In other words, my first fear that he was way down on his luck may have been premature. I hope so. I would much rather him doing better than my first impression.

As always, your photography gets us thinking and is first rate, Tick.

He was about to get up when you took this photo. See the impatience on his face Tick.

As John observed this guy does seem pretty well dressed and appears a lot better off than in your first post...hard to read his expression but I suspect Raj may be right, hoping you'll take off so he can go and spend the money in that nearby establishment...great people shot, SOT.

It is a shame in this day & age that this is happening!...however it is the generosity of people like yourself, that makes their lives a little easier!

Great picture too!

I agree Tick, he looks rather well dressed, so maybe not as down in his luck as one might think. If he keeps spending money on the drink, that might change, very good! Tigz=^..^=

I come across many homeless or less destitute folks like on my journeys..and always 'try' to give them a hand for the needy.

He must be Owd Bob's American cousin. A good piece of photo-journalism, Ron.

I think some of us too quickly assumed he was a homeless person. He is very smartly dressed. Maybe he owns the Pub !
I like the B?W for its starkness but prefer this one where he is looking at us.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

There's a story to be told, from his expression. Perhaps it isn't to be told to us, or to you, rather to friends waiting at the Ragsdales Pub & Lounge. A nice street photo.

I don't think he's homeless either. There's a homeless man that we occasionally stop and grab some of his favourite food and bring it to him. You can tell others have been helping him out by items he has nearby. I always have had a sense of gratitude about me in general and don't take things for granted in the slightest. I have had just enough heartbreak in life to make me appreciate the sweetness that it has as well. I don't live in a mansion or have sports cars, etc but I still consider myself a successes considering everything I went through to get here. (Alex gets pushed off soapbox! ) ;)
