Thought I would take a break from the flood photo's and post a photo for Foofy Friday and SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES.

The Rose was a 1979 film starring Bette Midler in her Oscar Nominated role. It was based loosely on the life of Janis Joplin. It was a highly successful movie and the song was also a big hit. If you haven't seen the movie, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

I dedicate the photo to Stan Roseman also know as Ace. Stan is a longtime member and award winning rose grower. I hope life is treating him well.

EDIT: Kathy said this is an old rose. The original bush belonged to my wife's late Grandmother. She died in 1992. We replanted a start from the rosebush in 1996. It was growing wild in the field where her house once stood. The house had been destroyed by fire a few years before she died. Her last name was Hatfield and my daughter called her Grandma Happy. She was know by that name until she died. So Kathy is right about it being an old rose.

Owd Fella Tick (OFT), it's more than five years ago that Stan was active on Caedes. After that I got sporadic an email from him, but then it got silent. I miss his wonderful rose contributions, but I hope with you that life is treating him well.

Excellent contribution for this SNATM-theme (🎥). Good film, but an even more touching song. I've heard the versions of several performers, but the version of Bette Midler is the one that was never beaten in beauty for me.

Last but not least: this floral contribution is a very appropriate entry for F² as well!

Three for the price of one. Very well done, 👍 !

A beautiful rose with a nice color and good details. Naturally the perfect image for the movie. I used to see Roseman Stan on Facebook but that too was some time ago.

This is an "old" rose Tick - could be Rosa rugosa - a very old species - I see Stan's posts on Flickr sometimes and he used to make some of mine favorites - his shots are as wonderful as ever.

A rose by any other name... This rose has a wonderful story, a family memory. Well done, my friend.

It's a lovely rose and a gentleman never mentions a rose's age. At least that's what I was once told. I miss Stan and hope he is doing well, also.

A beautiful rose and well captured for both FF and as a good representation of that movie...one I have seen and thought Bette Midler did a good job in it...I too understood it was loosely based on the life of Janis Joplin...a marvelous theme song too...a great addition to our movie collection...many thanks, Tick!...Stan gave us many wonderful rose presentations...a nice and thoughtful tribute to him as well.
