I found this lady out in my front lawn. She wouldn't stop flapping her wings except on a few times as I was trying to get better angled shots. Managed to get a few decent ones This being the best I think. Took it with my Nikon D80 and 18-200mm VR Lens.

I think this is a Spicebush Swallowtail. I know some of the names, but not many. Fantastic capture, Chris. I haven't seen any of these around. She looks wonderful on the white phlox.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

Great angle on this one, looking down at the left. The detail and DOF are spot on...I really like how you captured the blue detail on the wings...very nicely done!!

Sorry to all...I haven't been commenting as much as I would like to lately. I'm a 9 to 5er again (actually more like 8:15 to 7:30 these days!!) Don't worry, I still see all of your wonderful posts, if only for a second.

I like the perspective on this shot. I agree with Stephen about the detail and dof. I like the subtle embossed frame.
