..is one of Copenhagen's most well-known monuments.Built in 1642,the Round Tower forms part of the Church of the Holy Trinity...Nonetheless,the tower does not serve as the church belltower, but was conceived by its patron,King Christian IV,as an astronomical observatory, and was used as such by Copenhagen University untill 1861..But the tower's principal point of attraction is,above all,the spectacular spiral ramp leading up to the top,34.6 metres above street level. The ramp is 209 metres long and makes seven and half turns around the tower before reaching the top....Remember the famous story of how the Russian Tsar Peter the Great rode up the ramp on horseback, during his visit to the city in 1716,followed by a carriage bearing the tsarina,Jekaterina!!!...the effort in climbing to the top platform is rewarded by a magnificent view of the city..
