I'm not the biggest fan of hornets...they sort of creep me out. Can't say I've ever been stung by one though! I've never actually been stung by a bee, come to think of it. Unless sweat bees count...do they? But anyways, great job focusing and everything on the hornet...very awesome, very creepy! =)

We have an area outside the building where I work in Texas where the wasps come to gather water and mud. You can stand among them as they take off and land. Many varieties frequent the site. They never try to sting you. They'll do so if you approach their nest, though.

Interesting capture of this little guy getting a drink. Good example of surface tension of water. Good job.

Good picture..although it would look a lot better with all the spots & things in the water around the hornet edited out of the photo. They detract from the subject and take attention away from its beautiful reflection. The focus is great and you captured it well.

Excellent capture. The water is very blue :-P. At first glance I thought that was the hood of a car.

Wow - great clarity! I thought at first it was computer generated. I think the spots on the water make the image better in that they show you that this is a real image instead of a created one.

My only suggestion would be a slightly different crop to include the top of the wing as well.

I do wonder - what camera and equipement you are using?

Amazingly clear and close for a point and shoot. I'd have liked the wing tip too but great subject and color. Love the reflection and surface tension.
