A super wonderful place known as the Dungeon, this was my favorite place on a recent trip to Newfoundland.

Dungeon Provincial Park: About a mile as the crow flies to the south of Cape Bonavista on the Trinity Bay side of the tip of the peninsula, is a very unusual rock formation known far and wide as the Dungeon. It is essentially a twin entranced sea cave with a collapsed roof, which has been carved into the cliff face by the incessant action of the sea. Photographed by many and ventured down into by the adventurous few, in their quest to acquire samples of fools gold. It ranks high on the list of sites in the area to be visited.

The rugged rock reminds me of Cape D'Or on Nova Scotia - hard rock worn to ragged edges, while softer rock has been fully removed by the sea's waves and currents. WIth the cloudy sky, it was good that you were able to get some sunlight on the rocks, providing some interesting variations in the monochromatic rocks, clouds and water. Though the sea is calm, the wave action is a reminder of how this phenomenon came to be. Nicely done. Thad

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken. - James Dent
