I've been playing with stained-glass-style effects for a while and this is the result so far. Apologies that the quality is not too great, but this is only a rough draft of something (hopefully!) better. Any tips would be great, but please keep the terminology to something a GIMP-only user can figure out! Thanks for taking time to look, I hope this brings some enjoyment.

Nice work! One thing I would suggest is that on the stained glass layer, you might try a gausian blur to smooth those rough edges. On a side note, Gimp 2.6.1 is out if you don't have it, and I am particularly happy that it is stable. I was having an ocassional problem with 2.4, and the new version seems much better, as well as having some added features.

Cool! I've done a lot of stained glass images in Photoshop - they're in my gallery. I have some tutorials as well that may help you.
