This is a picture that I took while on exchange, studying in China. I loved the reflections on this lake, and I took about forty pictures of it alrogether. This one was the best though.

the almost monochrome nature is injected into so subtly by the tinyest of splashes of vivid yellow (on the cart) and especially the red colour (round the doors)
the eye is lead so eaisly into that corner near the small arch
the age of the buildings and their decrepitude gives a feel of age old stillness complementing the almost morror smooth water
topographically the layered depth of the townscap , which might have otherwise looked a bit like trompe l'oeils ("trick the eye" 3d effect with flat pictures) is so much improved by the hillside in the background
