I would make make a better music critic than a photography critic. I will say this, though...I can't criticize the way you look. You are a beautiful lady. Very nice picture. I like the lighting.
Ayla, I do not photograph people, so please keep in mind that it may be very likely that I do not know what I am talking about and am most likely wrong.
I would have moved you more to the left, have you more off center than where you are currently sitting. For human interest, I would have turned the music to the page that has its title. Maybe, knowing the name of the piece would also mean something about you and add that depth to the shot. I would have considered doing something with the wall on the right. I find its blankness to be just that, blank.
I like your pose and I agree with Jimbob that you are a beautiful person. The way your head is tilting and the rigidness of the body, I suspect there is more of a mystery going on here than what first hits the eyes.
I also like the way the light is hitting you. If you would draw a vertical line across your body, half would be in the lit area and half in the dark. I think that is very well done.
Over-all Ayla I like your picture very much and look forward to seeing more of your work as time goes on. ~~ John
Very nice photo Ayla! I think you handled the light great! And I agree with Jim and John! Pretty girl! Nice job! What kind of music do you like to play? Have a happy day! Allen
Apparently you are all about music, beauty, light, photography and solitude! I haven't messed around with portraits yet but I've read a bit and I think something to reflect a bit more light onto the darker side of your face, just to give a tad more detail there, would be a plus. The comment about the music having a title is worth considering, unless no single title captures your musical soul. Your head and face seem a bit soft to me, perhaps that was deliberate, in which case ignore this comment. :) I like the warm light, it gives a very intimate feel to the image. The angle of the piano nicely leads the eye to you. The dark skirt/pants really keeps the focus on your torso and face, which seems entirely right to me. Matching your clothes to the colouring of the piano and music makes this work well. I suspect this is one of the more thoughtful self portraits on Caedes. Well done Ayla.
