The Graben goes back to Roman times- originally the Romans had the fortress ditch of their camp here. Later the ditch (“Der Graben”) was filled up with soil flattened by the English soldiers of Richard Loewenherz (Richard the Lionhearted). Than the place became a market for meat, vegetables and bread. Today the Graben is full of expensiv shops and tourists. As I walked there, I didn't wanted to go closer, so I took this shot from a side street. Maybe one day there will be not so many people there ...

I really like the subject matter and the angle at which you took it. You took good advantage of the light and shadows. Very good, Sabine.

a very good image, full with detail, from the right, the womans statue, in the middle top the statue on the roof, on the left, the very big outdoor lamp, and one of the expensive shop names shows, Mont Blanc, wich is part of the Cartier chain, and is expensive indeed, good picture Sabine !

When we get a shot this good from here there is no need to get closer Sabine! This is excellent!! Such great sculptures along with the beautiful architecture! We couldnt ask for more could we! It's a shame they put the ugly chimneys on such a great looking building so conspicuous from the street, but that's not your problem. Thanks for this great capture! p.s. great history behind it also! C):-)

The statue on the right is just wonderful Sabine! Lovely idea to put that at the front of your photo leading your eye to the square - and I hate places that are heaving with people, so I would probably prefer to watch too! :) Patti

Composition is awesome on this shot. I really like when you get surrounding architecture in the foreground, shows me more of the city. As usual, I appreciate the narrative. Hope you are feeling better! Diane

You shouldn't have kicked the expensive tourists out of the way - you wouldn't have hurt your foot then;o))
I love the composition of this one, the framing is excellent; makes us seem we are spying somewhere we shouldn't! The background history is fascinating too - nice to see an Englishmen had a part to play in it!
Seriously though, I didn't know you'd had an accident - I hope you mend quickly.
Cheers,
Steve.
