Excellent shot Sabine! What a marvelous background you have for it, not to mention the great job on your capture of this wooly beast itself! I have seen these before but I cant recall what they are called. Some type of oxen possibly? I love it..+ faves! C):-)

This may be what's called a Scottish Highlander, Sabine. I've seen them at livestock shows before. ("Google" it..lol) C):-)

Hey Sabine, this is most definitely a Scottish Highland Cow or Bull - see here and
here and he/she looks right at home in Austria! lol! A beautiful photograph - the background is very subtle and the light illuminates the bull!

We have a farmer who raises these here in New Hampshire. They're wonderful to look at, but the scenery behind this fellow is priceless :)

What a beautiful background, I've seen those but not here in the US. Mainly in photos from Europe, but I guess they're in New Hampshire too :o)

Sabine, this is the most dramatic shot of a Highland cow - or any other breed - I have ever seen! What a wonderful play of light, and sense of contrasts and distance. Excellent work and straight into my Favourites.

Sabine, if it's a Highland cow, don't think he/she came wandering from that far (lol). Excellent image (very nice background). Regards, Cornelius

Hello Sabine...I was surprised to see this highland cow in the Austrian mountains...I was brought up with these beauties when I was a wee lad in Scotland...I must say this is a lovely picture of my favourite breed of cattle...Well done....All the best...Mick.
