View from the mountain Kapuzinerberg across the city of Salzburg to the fortress Hohensalzburg. The 900-year-old Hohensalzburg Fortress, the city's chief landmark, is the biggest and most fully-preserved fortification in Europe. Built by Archbishop Gebhard during the investiture controversy in 1077, it served to protect the clergy and the population.

Oh this is a nice surprice Sabine, what a good view we get from here.
I have not seen the city from here, only from the other side i did. On the left is the Untersberg, my holliday home was located on the other side of this mountain, in the Berchtesgadenerland. I can even see the funicolare leading up, or coming back from the castle :-) I have saved the image in two formats, danke schön !!!

thank you Sabine! This brings back lots of good memories for me of my trip to Salzburg. On my first day there last November I walked up the left side of the castle and around to see the view looking towards the Untersberg! Outstanding shot - heading straight for my favourites!

Sabine, this is very well done. Such detail. The greens and blues create such a contrast. Even the almighty gave you great clouds for your shot. A wonderful picture certain for the favs!

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . .
