The Myra river draws its water from an underground lake. By the Karnerwirt (if you go there - eat there!), its way is first barred by a dam. After that, it falls through many narrow gorges into the valley. There, the water is once again gathered in a reservoir. This shot was made up there, at the restaurant Karnerwirt - a firefighter boat.

What a beautiful, sleek boat for such a mundane purpose! Left to wonder, I would have visualized an Egyptian noblewoman sitting in it sniffing a lotus flower. The slightly unusual shallow dam and the reflection add interest to the background.

Love the shot and explanation. Everything is so clear. I see anticipation when I look at this shot. Boat is ready for whatever comes it's way. This will be before you time, but it makes me think of The Clampett's Cement Pond in "The Beverly Hillbillies."

Sabine, although this boat has the name 'Feuerwehr Thal' indeed, to me it seems not to be that stable for firefighting. I assume it's has probably a kind of SAR (search and rescue) function. Anyhow a wonderful image. Well done. Regards, Cornelius

The boat looks well crafted and your shot of it is so wonderfully clear and beautifully photographed. I am trying to imagine how these must be used to fight fire.
