Detail of a fountain named Pferdeschwemme in the city Salzburg. There are two Pferdeschwemmen or horse wells left in Salzburg. Today, the stables only host festival guests and the horse wells dont serve any particular purpose either. Some people like dropping coins in them.

Sabine, think (I'm not sure) it was Chris who posted in the past an image of a 'Pferdenschwemme', so I'm not unknown to this phenomenon. Your image however, gives a wonderful detail of it. Very nice capture (with a good contrast to the background, lol). Regards, Cornelius

I photographed both Sabine, but I was sad because there was no water in either - they were cleaning them out ready for Christmas I think! lovely capture and a nice presentation!

Wonderful yet a tad eerie looking fountain. They serve the purpose of making great subjects for a photograph. Excellent detail in this.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

That's a fascinating fountain! Although a little odd with the water coming out of the nose. Great color.

A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense, and is, thereby, a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety. (Ansel Adams)

I agree that seeing the water really makes this look a lot different from the other posts I've seen of it on here...Nicely presented.
